ABOUT MATT

MATT FRAMPTON is a singing-actor, educator, and voice pedagogue with extensive experience spanning musical theatre and contemporary commercial music contexts.

Originally from Melbourne (Naarm), Matt is currently completing his Doctor of Musical Arts in Vocal Performance: Music Theatre with a sub-specialization in vocal pedagogy at NYU Steinhardt. Previous studies include a Master of Music in Vocal Performance (NYU) and a Master of Teaching (Monash University).

Matt recently appeared in the developmental workshop of Nancy Drew and the Mystery at Spotlight Manor (Ensemble, u/s Carson Drew) directed by James Lapine with music by Alan Menken. Other performance highlights whilst at NYU include Sweeney Todd (Beadle Bamford), Into the Woods (Narrator/Mysterious Man), Titanic (Charles Clarke), Die Fledermaus (Alfred), Celebrating the Genius of Alan Menken (Lead Vocalist) and the NYU Pop/Rock Ensemble (Lead Vocalist/Assistant Coach).

With a passion for developing artistry in young singers, Matt has extensive experience in vocal teaching and ensemble direction, and is a producer of Starbound Musical Theatre - a summer intensive program connecting adolescents with professionals in the Australian music theatre industry. In 2020, he received the Australian National Excellence in Teaching Award and the Early Career Teacher’s Award (NEiTA Foundation) for his work in music education. Matt is currently an Adjunct Instructor of Voice at New York University.
